Basic Bread Recipe

Basic Bread Recipe from Laurie Vawdrey (Submitted by Jamie Balzen)


INGREDIENTS:

12 cups of flour (white or wheat)
1 tablespoon salt
¾ cup dry potato flakes
½ cup oil
½ cup honey
5 cups water, hot as you can get it (tap water)
3 Tbsp. SAF yeast

DIRECTIONS:
  1. Put all ingredients into the bread mixer, along with 4 cups of the flour and mix for about 1 or 2 minutes until everything is mixed well.
  2. While mixer is still mixing add yeast
  3. Add 8 more cups of flour
  4. Mix for a couple of minutes (not more than 3).
  5. Grease pans.
  6. Dump dough out on flour or greased surface. 
  7. Follow directions for rolls, french bread, cinnamon rolls, or pizza roll below.
For rolls:
Divide into 4 balls. Roll out in a circle. Cut like a pizza. Roll fat to skinny. Place in greased cookie sheet pan.  Let rise.  Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes.

For french bread:
Divide into 4 balls. Shape loaves. Two loaves will fit on one greased cookie sheet pan. Make slits on bread with knife.  Let rise.  Bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes.

For cinnamon rolls:
Divide into 2 balls. Roll out in rectangle. Spread butter, then sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on dough. Cut and place 4 by 6 in a greased cookie sheet pan.  Let rise.  Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes.

For pizza rolls:
same as cinnamon rolls only add pizza toppings.  Cook and freeze for a yummy treat anytime!!!
